Citradia is a Trifoliate Hybrid. Trifoliate hybrids are the hardest of them all up to negative 15 degrees fahrenheit. These hybrids come from a cross between the trifoliate orange and the sweet and sour oranges, grapefruit, mandarins, and kumquats. The decision to breed the two species came after the freezes of the 1890's in florida. They wanted to make a more hardy plant for everyone to be able to enjoy. Poncirus trifoliata tends to dominate in most of these hybrids. These plants are more or less evergreen and they have small sour fruit.A good book for reference is Hardy Citrus for the Southeast by Tom McClendon Southeastern Palm Society.Buy 3 or more of our citrus plants and get them for 12.50 each. You pick any three.
