Commonly known as the windmill palm. The windmill palm is the cold-hardiest of all the palms. Windmill palms are single trunk specimans with the trunks being thin, less than a foot in diameter, and covered in a fuzzy burlap substance. Leaves on the windmill palmate and are up to 3 feet wide. They need to be planted in full sun to part shade. Zone 7a with protection, 7b and 8a, and in 8b with heavier soils. A good reference book is Hardy Plams for the Southeast a Guide for Growing Palms Outdoors North of Florida by Tom McClendon, Will Roberds, and Joe LeVert Southeastern Palm Society.
