Sabal Minor is the most widespread native palm species in the Southeast. The 'McCurtain County' Sabal Minor seems to be similiar to a standard Sabal Minor. The hardiness of this palm is what makes it stand out. Tests in Kansas show that this palm survived in temperatures as loa as -24 degrees f. The size and leaf type are the same as other Sabal Minors. A good reference book is Hardy Plams for the Southeast a Guide for Growing Palms Outdoors North of Florida by Tom McClendon, Will Roberds, and Joe LeVert Southeastern Palm Society.
