Cycads are known as 'living fossils' due to the fact that they have not changed much in over 100 million years. Taitungensis is a medium sized cycad about 3 m tall and is a quick grower. The leaves are a deep green and long about 100-180 cm. It is often grown for its foilage since it is an evergreen. This plant does not produce flowers but does have male and female cones. Prince Sago is one of the cold harder cycads.
