David Manser, owner of Ponds & Plants,
is a 4th generation horticulturist. He had his first
greenhouse at age 8, and has built up a lifetime of knowledge
regarding plant care and maintenance. David attended college
in northern England to broaden his knowledge of all aspects of
horticulture, and ran his own landscaping business in the UK when
propagation was just a hobby to him.
Since moving to the United States, he
has branched out in several different directions. One of those
is to open his long-for plant nursery where he can propagate and
grow the rare and unusual.
Ponds & Plants is very much a family
business. David's father Keith picks up the plant compost used
in the nursery, and is jack-of-all-trades around the property.
David's mother, Pauline, spends her days setting the plant cuttings,
which is something she shared with her grandfather on summer visits
to the English countryside. David's daughters are also active
at the nursery, potting and tending to the young plants, which is
one of the most important jobs at the facility.
David also works in the wildlife
exhibit field, and has completed several important projects
for various clients. He likes to create a natural environment
for wildlife and aquatic life, and is an accomplished artisan in
these areas.
Ponds and Plants is located in Dayton, TN.,
on Rhea County Highway near the Wal-Mart. If you're coming to
visit us from Chattanooga, just follow Highway 27, north through
Soddy Daisy, and Bakewell. We're about 2 miles past the Rhea
County line, on the right hand side. Watch for the big cell
tower; we're just past it. |
